We were excited to host the Literacy Coach Network Cohort (LCN) Meeting today —an engaging day of collaboration and meaningful conversation.
The Sandra Dunagan Deal Center, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Education, is empowering over 70 literacy coaches across Georgia through this two-year initiative. With ongoing training and support, the cohort continues to strengthen literacy coaching and student outcomes statewide.🌟📚

Robin Marcrum, Katie Bowen and other strong women at CPRESA assembled a stand and banner featuring our new logo. This will be the selfie station backdrop for our upcoming Summer Admin Conference.

We are proud of our superintendents as they advocate for public education at the Capitol and at home.

Congratulations to the Tift County video production teams on their wins in the CPRESA Regional Georgia Movie Academy competition. Both first and second place teams will advance to state competition.

Day 2 of Growing Readers was all about deepening practice and growing together! 📚🌟
Participants from Brooks, Cook, Thomas, and Turner county school districts strengthened their understanding of explicit instruction, planned purposeful lessons, and practiced teaching with clear, actionable steps. They also designed small-group lessons tailored to student needs—and enjoyed plenty of fellowship along the way. A powerful day of learning, collaboration, and connection! 💙💚

📚 Growing Readers participants engaged in a day of learning today. They received a fun read-aloud book in honor of World Read Aloud Day and deepened their knowledge with reading skills, connected them to reading behaviors, and applied strategies to better support student instruction. 🍎📚

On Wednesday, the CPRESA staff gathered to celebrate the retirement of Mr. Bobby Smith. With 5 decades of service in many different roles, Bobby is known state-wide for his work to improve outcomes for Georgia students, and the CPRESA districts especially have benefitted from his expertise. Bobby, we salute you! You are a legend in school improvement, a man who can make Excel do your bidding and data beg for mercy! You will be missed (but we still have your phone number)!

Molly Hudgens, author of Saving Sycamore, shared timeless wisdom for our District Safety Directors, School Resource Officers, and School Counselors, concerning school safety.

So grateful for the Literacy Coach Network—a powerful collaboration between the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language & Literacy and GaDOE’s Literacy Team that gives Georgia’s literacy coaches space to learn, grow, and connect. 📚✨

Coastal Plains RESA Executive Director, Mr. Wes Taylor, welcomes educators to GaDOE’s Winter Teaching and Learning Summit. It was a great day of learning!

K-12 teachers came together at CPRESA for ways to shift instruction in their K-12 Social Studies classroom towards more engaging, literacy-rich, student-centered practices. They discovered inquiry-based practices to promote students’ active processing of text as they aligned instruction to the content and skills of the GSE.

Echols County is doing a great job integrating phonics instruction in a meaningful way! 🎉

Winter T&L Summit

Great news!! A grant written by ABAC's School of Education and Wellness Department Head, Dr. Melissa Baker and CPRESA Literacy Coach, Dr. Jessie Russell has been chosen by the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Learning and Literacy! Because of this $50,000 award, ten early career teachers in our region will receive in-depth professional learning, technology-enhanced feedback, and reflective literacy coaching sessions to improve practice and increase student achievement over the next several months. Thank you to the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for your generosity and belief in the collaborative work being done by ABAC and CPRESA!
